Tetbury

Our purpose is to provide access to Tetbury Town centre for visitors and residents
with a mobility difficulty.

This is a service, with affordable hire charges, that enables visitors and residents
to enjoy independence and freedom to visit the shops, cafes, public services and
the beautiful historic buildings within Tetbury Town centre.

You will find that the town centre is easily negotiable by electric scooter or wheelchair.
The pavements are in good condition, all of the major crossings have drop kerbs, and
there are very few 'tight' locations.

The main shopping streets are level or have modest slopes that you will find easy to use.
But there are three steep hills leaving the centre - Gumstool Hill and Chipping Street
(beyond the Chipping Car Park) to the northeast and Fox Hill to the southeast.
We recommend you avoid using these.

We also offer a service to residents who are temporarily disabled but want to remain
independently mobile long term hire of a scooter or wheelchair at affordable rates.
This service is available directly from Tetbury Shopmobility and through Tetbury
Hospital and Romney House Surgery.

We have battery-powered scooters and manual wheelchairs available for hire. Photos and full
details of the equipment available are listed on the Equipment Available Page.

Whilst we have quite a number of scooters and wheelchairs and we do try to meet all your needs,
it is possible that the equipment you require may already be booked out to another member.

Collecting the equipment you have booked
Our equipment is stored at St Saviours Church, New Church Street, Tetbury by kind permission
of The Churches Conservation Trust. Members should collect the equipment they have booked
from the Church. Please be sure to bring the two signed Hire & Membership forms with you. You
can download Directions to the Church from this website.

Let us know if you are arriving by car to collect the equipment and we will advise on convenient parking locations.

One of our volunteers will prepare the equipment for your arrival and collect your signed
Hire & Membership forms and fee, the hire charge and deposit. The battery powered
scooters are easy to use and you will be shown how to operate them by one of our
trained and friendly volunteers in the wide open space of the Fire Station grounds
immediately opposite the church. The scooters will be fully charged and a charging
connector will be supplied if required.

Let our volunteer know when you expect to return the equipment and he/she will be
at the Church to meet you and, if the equipment is undamaged, to return your deposit.
